Expanding on the 1-week Intensive Detox: 2 case studies

As part of the 1-week Intensive Detox, a client would want to exclude both gluten and lactose. In addition to this, they may exclude one or more of the following groups:

  • Caffeine
  • Meat
  • Grains
  • Starchy vegetables
  • Fruits (except for lemon, lime, grapefruit, tomatoes, apples, pears, green kiwis, plums, and berries – all of which are both low-calorie and low-glycaemic)

Note that grains can be divided into 2 main divisions: grains that contain gluten and grains that do not contain gluten (gluten-free grains).

Let’s look at a couple of examples to help explain this better.

Case study 1.

Client 1 is going to exclude gluten, lactose, and caffeine.

Step 1: This means that this client would not be consuming any food items with gluten, lactose, or
caffeine during 7 days, but would be consuming grains that do not contain gluten (gluten-free grains), as well as meat, starchy vegetables, and fruits.

Step 2: In the My 1-week Detox Shopping List™, you would then have listed food items for cruciferous vegetables, sulphur-rich foods, detoxifying vegetables, detoxifying fruits, gluten-free grains, lactose-free options, protein-rich foods, beans and lentils, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices, as well as teas and infusions.

Step 3: Complete the shopping (either online or in-store) based on the items in the My 1-week Detox Shopping List™.

Below is an example:

Case study 2.

Client 2 is going to exclude gluten, lactose, and gluten-free grains.

Step 1: This means that this client would not be consuming any food items with gluten, lactose, or gluten-free grains during 7 days. In other words, Client 2 would not be consuming ANY grains during this 1 week.

Step 2: In the My 1-week Detox Shopping List™, you would then have listed food items for cruciferous vegetables, sulphur-rich foods, detoxifying vegetables, detoxifying fruits, lactose-free options, protein-rich foods, beans and lentils, nuts and seeds, herbs and spices, as well as teas and infusions. Gluten-free grains would not be in list.

Step 3: Complete the shopping (either online or in-store) based on the items in the My 1-week Detox Shopping List™.

Below is an example:

During the reintroduction following the intensive detox, grains (both gluten-free grains and grains with gluten) can be done on the third day of week 4 (after lactose, which would be reintroduced on the first day of week 1). So both Client 1 and Client 2, could start to consume gluten again on the third day of week 4. For more information about the reintroduction, revisit Module 23, Unit 2.
