Something's not right, but what?
Sometimes, internet browsers accumulate data over time (also called “cache”) and this eventually could cause issues. Depending on which browser you're using, you may try the following.
Instructions for clearing the cache
- Below you can find detailed instructions for:
- Internet Explorer
- If your browser is not in this list, try this page (external link, opens in new window).
Note: if the below instructions did not work for you, try also clearing your cookies.Firefox
- At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button, go over to the History menu and select Clear Recent History. You can also use the combination CTRL+SHIFT+DELETE.
- Select how much history you want to clear:
- Click the drop-down menu next to Time range to clear to choose Everything.
- Next, click the arrow next to Details to select exactly what information will get cleared.
- Choose Cache only (the rest is not required for this procedure)
- Click the Clear Now button.
- Force a refresh of the page with CTRL-F5.
- Click the Chrome on the browser toolbar.
- Select Tools.
- Select Clear browsing data.
- In the dialogue that appears (if it doesn’t or you can’t find it, try the combination CTRL+SHIFT+DELETE), select the tickboxes for the types of information that you want to remove.
- Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. Select beginning of time to ensure you clean everything.
- Select Empty the cache only (the rest is not required).
- Click Clear browsing data.
- Select Tools (via the Gear Icon) > Safety > Delete browsing history…. or useCTRL+SHIFT+DELETE alternatively.
- Make sure to check Preserve Favorites website data and check both Temporary Internet Files, then click Delete.
- You will get a confirmation at the bottom of the window once it has successfully cleared your cache and cookies.
- Click on the Opera icon (top left of the window), then Settings > Delete Private Data….
- Choose Delete entire cache only (the rest is not required for this procedure).
- Click on the Delete button.
- In the Safari menu bar, click the Safari option.
- Select Preferences.
- In the Preferences window, click the Advanced tab.
- At the bottom of the window, select the Show Develop menu in menu bar checkbox.
- Return to the Safari menu bar and click the Develop option.
- Select the Empty Caches link.
- Try resetting your cookies as well.
There are times when a browser can get out of sync with the server, and when you clear your cookies as well this likely solves most other issues.
Note: bear in mind that when you clear your cookies, that you'll be instantly logged out of any sites you were logged into with your browser. Simply log in again, and continue as you were.
